DayDreamer

Ephesians 3:20-21 says, "Now, all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power to work within us, to accomplish infinately more than we might ever ask or think. Glory to Him in the church, and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen."

If you know me...you know I am a day dreamer. I could waste hours imagining myself in different situations of wealth, success, service, love, anything-you name it, and I always get a little disapointed when I think about how unlikely it is that the things I imagine will come true. But according to Ephesians 3:20-21, God is different. He has a tremendous vision for the Church as a whole, and for each of us individually, that is much more incredible than we could ever hope to imagine or come up with on our own.
Plus, his vision for us is made perfectly possible by God's mighty power in our lives. So, we never need to be afraid to dream big when it comes to God because we can bet that God is dreaming bigger.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you that you have plans for me that are much greater than I know, and thank you that I do not have to limit my dreams for your kingdom because I have the oppertunaty to live by your power and not my own. Please accomplish your vision in me and my life. Amen.

A Shot At Love? More like A Shot of Sin

I am officially horrified for your generation. After reading this article http://www.slate.com/id/2175654/nav/tap3/ about Tila's new show I am once again disgusted at MTV (aka The True Anti-Christ). Here we have another "no talent wannabe somebody so i'll just be bisexual cause it's cool girl" trying to make it on TV. It incences me that Satan is lulling youth to sin through such exploitative TV shows. The sad thing is there are so many "unsure of themselves" pre-teen boys and girls out there that either want to be with or emulate such filth as Tila Tequila and their parents aren't doing anything about it. I mean really, a girl who parades around in ambiguity for ratings all b/c she wants to "express herself" sorry sweetie, Madonna did that already and with much better music. All in all i will honestly pray for Tila and the multitudes who will watch this show. I seriously feel sorry for her- I wonder what happened in her short life that has caused her to fall into such despair. But I have hope.

Psalm 9: 18-20 says
18 But the needy will not always be forgotten,
nor the hope of the afflicted ever perish.
19 Arise, O LORD, let not man triumph;
let the nations be judged in your presence.
20 Strike them with terror, O LORD; let the nations know they are but men.

Join me in praying today:
Almighty Father I pray for the needy like Tila I know you love her and that you'll never let her go. You have made her so wonderful it's just that she doesn't know it yet. She is trying so hard to please man and woman alike. Lord I know we're all sick and we all need something. Tila needs something great to change her heart. Lord do not allow her to triumph- Father I pray that this show be pulled against all odds. Let MTV and it's nation of followers know that you are KING!

pay what you want?

hey guys check this out. radiohead's new album is out starting today for download oct. 10th- why am i writing about this- b/c they are doing something never before in the music business- they are allowing you to pay whatever you want for the album. that's right you want to pay a penny? it's yours. want to pay 5 bux- it's up to you. however be careful if you're like me and not good at math remember that you have to pay in british pounds but there's a conversion tool link on their site. i ended up paying about 5 british pounds or 10 bux american cause the idea was so great. How do they do it? well they were fed up with people paying so much for their music that they made the album themself no production company at all. are they going to make a lot of $$$$ probably not but i dont think thats their point.

Why worry?

Matthew 6:26-27

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?Someone once told me, "Worry is like a rocking chair -- it'll give you something to do, but it won't get you anywhere." How true that is! When we worry it's usually because we have little or no control over a situation and we really wish we had complete control. But does worrying every help anything? What does that say about our faith and trust in God to work according to His will? Jesus reminds us that God takes care of birds and He'll definitely take care of us. Instead of worrying, trust God.

Halo 3 in the Bible?

Question: What gets 10 MILLION advertising dollars and keeps 10,000 stores open all night? Why, Halo 3 of course!
Unless you're a teen icon in rehab, or you really have been away from the planet for a while, you may have noticed the Halo 3 mania that has invaded our planet like the Flood. 7-11, Burger King, Mountain Dew, heck even NASCAR driver Felix Sabatehas an ad on his No. 40 racing car. The world has Halo 3 fever...and the only cure is not more cowbell, but console time baby! Master Chief John 117 is back - bruised and battered, but ready togive humanity hope that the Covenant can be defeated and survival ispossible. (Side note John 1:17 in the Bible is a reference to Jesus Christ...coincidence? I think not!) How is survival possible? Well...skill, strategy, and teamwork come in handy, but when you get down to the nitty gritty, it's all about the weapons. All the quick moves and Elite cleverness in the world don't do a lot of damage unless they are accompanied by our friends The Sniper Rifle and Mr. Flamethrower. No seriously, I really am an adult. But something about Halo 3 throws even the most mature folks back into the childhood days of toy soldiers and backyard war games. Only this game isn't about little plastic guys and running around a field. We're talking about jawdropping graphics coupled with 50,000 audio clips, a 60 piece orchestra and a 24 voice choir all nestled sweetly in 5.1 surroundsound.
Me wanty!
Somewhere in the midst of sipping my Mountain Dew with a Halo 3 ad while watching a Halo 3 commercial on TV and seeing a Halo 3 logo on a Burger King wrapper, a 'things that make you go hmmmm' question entered my mind. What makes this series so popular? Why do an average of 300,000 way-too-much-free-time people log online every DAY to play this game? Sure, it's the mother of all console games with great features, butI think there might be something deeper. Call it a 'save the planet' kind of feeling that runs inside our hardware. Of course, Halo 3 is just a game. We don't really have an invading alien force on our planet with the goal of eliminating human vermin, right?
Well, maybe not in a physical sense. But trust me, there's a Halo 3 battle going on in the spiritual world that is just as real as the 4hour checkout line at Wal-Mart when you bought the game. But don't take my word for it take God's Word for it: Jesus replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven." (Luke10:18) Jesus is referring to a time in the past when Satan was kicked out of heaven like a bolt of lightning, and thus began the war on humanity: For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powersin this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.(Ephesians 6:12) According to the Bible, after Satan was dishonorably discharged from his duties in heaven, he took a mighty army of fallen angels with himand declared war on the objects of God's grace and love: human beings and especially those who are in the Lord's army as Christians. Make no mistake, the dark forces of the spiritual world have marked you for destruction and no amount of quick moves, strategy, or teamwork will win this fight. But the great news is that God gave us a powerful weapon! It'scalled the 'whole armor of God' and here's what it includes: Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers forall believers everywhere. (Ephesians 6:14-18) Like Halo 3 , you need to take your time and learn how to use your weapons and defend yourself, but what it basically boils down to is study and memorize Bible passages, living life like Jesus did interms of integrity, holiness, righteousness and faith in God foreverything and of course, stay in a constant state of prayer. If you do these things, you'll be victorious. If you don't, well, you're basically dead spiritual meat. So enjoy jumping into the world of Halo 3 , but don't forget about the real battle being waged in your house, your school, and even in your mind on a daily basis. Put on your armor and let's finish the fight! Article written after getting pwoned these past few days in Halo 3 by youth half my age but with only half my good looks.

sin seeps

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. As much as I want to please God and live for Him, it seems that sin issues continually seep back into my life. Often they're easy to miss because they drift in slowly, not as a big slap on face. I love knowing that no matter what happens, God will always forgive me. And not just forgive me, but make me pure again! I wish I had the same perspective of sin that God does.

look what i did!

Matthew 6:1

Be careful not to do your "acts of righteousness" before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. Doing good things is great, but just as important as the good things you do is your attitude behind it. If you help people or encourage friends just so they'll like you or to impress them, then that's all the reward you'll get for it. Personally, I'd rather do as this verse suggests and do my "acts of righteousness" for God's glory alone and receive His reward. I'm sure His rewards are a lot bigger than the temporary satisfaction that comes from knowing someone noticed me for a second.

when people meet jesus

Hey everyone here's a look at our new series called, "When people meet Jesus". Zacchaeus. Nicodemus. The Samaritan Woman. Each with their own story, each sharing a life-changing encounter with the Savior. Through nine unique stories, you'll get a vivid picture of people transformed by Christ.

Hebrews 3:13
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. Encouraging others is important, not just because it builds people up, but because it actually helps prevent others and yourself from drowning in habitual sin. If you see a friend who's struggling with an area of sin, encourage them. Not just once, not just twice, but daily! Find a group of friends who will do the same for you.

The 20

Great service last night everyone. I pray that "the 20" heard the message and are actively pursuing God's will in their life today. Now the only problem is you have to find out what to do this saturday night.

Pslams 30:8

I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.I love the connection here between doing God's will and internalizing His Word. A lot of people want to know what God's will is for their lives, but they expect to find it without taking time to find out what God's Word already says about it. We can't follow God's plan for our lives without hiding His Word in our hearts. Likewise, a desire to do God's will doesn't come without applying His Word to our lives in the first place. Having a desire to do God's will, knowing what that is for your life and digging into the Word are all interconnected. It's hard to have one part of that without the rest.Extra time in the Word: Psalm 40

NEW SERVICE THIS THURSDAY!!!

So if you took a look at the poll last week you'll see that none of those things happened. However, who would've thought that we would have busted by the NAVY, then have to swim a 1/4 mile through shark infested waters--(thanks sean sharpe btw.) Needless to say thanks to all who came. The video from camp will be shown in 2 weeks- if i can't get it up on the blogspot.

Also, remember this THURSDAY 6:30pm OUR NEW HOME and service will be at the old Fitness Center on Barber's Point. If you need directions or anything--please call.
John 16:33

These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. Life is filled with too much turmoil NOT to turn to Christ for peace. It's miserble trying to handle it all on our own, so Christ spoke to give us peace and courage. Plus, this life is not all there is. There's an eternity of peace awaiting us that only God can provide.

ooooo baby i love your way

1 Peter 2:2-3
Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
Most of us really want to grow spiritually. Otherwise we probably wouldn't have subscribed to this daily Bible study in the first place. But wanting to grow spiritually and actually craving it, as 1 Peter suggests, are two different things. I want to grow spiritually, but not always with the same intensity that I crave a cold drink on a hot day. On days like that, there's absolutely nothing else that will suffice. I need cold water, period. Newborn babies crave to be fed so they can grow. Likewise, we should crave spiritual nurishment so we can grow in the Lord.

Everything is Meaningless

Ecclesiastes 1:14

I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, as meaningless as chasing after the wind.

God sees everything we do. That can kind of come across as scary, but that's actually a good thing. When He's watching you, He's not hoping that you screw up somehow or hoping that he can catch you in the act of doing somthing bad. He's cheering you on, He wants you to win through Him.

holey heart?

Exodus 20:3-4

You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

Throughout life, we sometimes all tend to fade away from God. Of course, it's our human nature. So we have this space in our heart that is only fit for God to fill. A God shaped hole you might say. So if we stray, we try to fill that hole with other things such as the greed for money, lust, other gods, different religions, etc. They become our idols. It doesn't seem like we necessarily worship them but they become our life so we do pretty much worship them since our lives revolve around them. God doesn't like that. In the next verse God says to not worship those things because He's a jealous God. He wants us to love Him. If you want here's some extra time in the Word: Exodus 20:1-17

Put the DEVIL down!

Today's Reading- Early Ministry of Jesus- John 4
I hope everyone had a great weekend. For me between puppet shows, (btw jp and bishop BEST puppet show EVER!) hauling insane amounts of coconut trees, learning how to "correctly" open and eat coconut (and then learning not to eat too much said coconut cause the runs that's why), and defeating both my roommates by 64 points in NCAA08 football- i'd have to say it was pretty eventful. But the most significant part of my weekend was Saturday night.
After service we headed to Wendy's- I got there a little bit late- but i'm glad i did. I saw this lady with the hood of her van open outside Wendy's. Her van was packed with pretty much everything she owned. I walked over to her and asked if she needed any help. She began to tell me about everything that had happened to her in the past couple months- about how she couldn't go to the shelter- that she now didn't have any place to go- how she had no money or family- and that she feared for her safety just living out of her van. As i listened, i was as i always am amazed that we live in this great state- paradise to most people and yet there are people who are still homeless and scared. I told her that i wanted to help her with anything i could- I mean i would love to buy her a home or a new van or something- maybe some gas- call extreme makeover van edition or something- but when i asked her she very simply replied that all she wanted was a coffee and a vanilla frosty. You know sometimes we ask God for the big things in life- new flatscreen tv- new mp3 player- a new computer- in hopes that it'll make us happy. We suppose God wants us to be happy and we think happiness comes with stuff so God should provide. I wonder if that's what He means when scripture says that God will give us the desires of our heart- meaning he'll give us the ability to buy stuff- but what if you don't know what your heart desires? what if the desires of your heart have nothing to do with the stuff of this world. For me I was given a desire of my heart- the ability to help a child of God that he loves so dearly and you know what it only cost me 3.24 cents. This week think simply, think like coffee and vanilla frosties, what can you do to help a friend or a stranger on your campus this week. You can't your campus without taking a first step to help those who need it most.

Well it seems that we have recieved some money PRAISE GOD to begin our new youth service on Sept. 5th. The only problem is i don't know how to spend it. So i need some ideas...comment me with some ideas of how to use some money for our new service--ideas would be like...using money to print t-shirts and pass them out for FREE at KHS to get people to our new service. Maybe you have an idea that would be great for our service like a cappacino (sp) machine- or some water wings for the pool- whatever it is just list em here i'll take a look and we'll see what we got- be blessed today.

Motel 6- We'll leave the light on for ya'

Verses of the Day- Birth of Jesus- Matthew 2 and Luke 2
I don't know how the Wonder Years does it but I end up experiencing more spiritual lessons within a 25 minute timespan than with any other TV show-and last night was no exception. Last night's rerun was about how Karen (Kevin's sister) and her father were not seeing eye to eye. Set on her 18th birthday- Karen- a love child of the 60's wanted to shed her daddy's little girl image and begin a new life filled with uncertainity and a sort of wherever life leads me kind of attitude, while her father wanted to keep his daughter as he remembered her-soft, innocent, sweet, and naive to the world. The two constantly clash throughout the episode
with Karen screaming for independence and her father wanting to protect her from the world. In the end, her father lets her go and thus Karen's new life without her father begins. The last scene ends with Kevin's narration about how no matter how far the distance will separate them becomes, her father will always leave the light on for her. I think that's a perfect image of our Lord. So many times we think we know the best way to live our lives and we struggle so much just to be set free. Sometimes as new Christians, we think that God wants to control our lives and suffocate us allowing us no freedom. So...we get upset, think we don't him and leave. What we need to realize is that we'll only truly be free when we follow in His ways. He truly wants to give us "the desires of our heart". The problem is we don't see the whole picture. He knows what's best for us and even if we reject Him and try to live without him, the best thing is that just like Kevin's father- our Lord will always leave the light on for us allowing us to come back to Him whenever we want.

No arrests made at Farm Fair HOORAY!!!

I first want to thank the girl at the ride ticket booth for warning us that the cops were after "the group passing out the cards" sweeetttt. I also want to thank tyler o, lynk, shaina, and bishop (who's not talking to me for some reason, but congrats you won the poll!) for willing to stand up and hold signs for our TV commercial- by the way tyler and lynk i will never quite look at a Dog and Pony Show the same way ever again. To everyone who passed out cards great job, now let's pray that we have an effect!
So today starts our daily bible readings, in the future i'll be putting it at the beginning of each of my posts. But we're going to start by going trough the GOSPELS in chronogical order. All you have to do is read the verse and then if you want, you can journal in the books we gave you at camp. If you have other suggestions or wnat to comment on the verse just do so by commenting on the day you read the verse. Got it? alright.
Here's the first verse...

the cooliest sounds made by cartoons ever!

so on the ride home from mini church last night...................we thought that there are some preeeety cool sounds made by cartoons =] so we decided to start a list on the blog of ze best cartoon sounds or phrases of ALLLL time!

we'll start it off and then you provide the rest..
(in no particular orderrrr.)

1. Narrrrf! (pinky of pinky and the brain)
2. goo ge ge (transformers transforming)
3. DOH! (homer)

yeah so basicly alyssa and jordan are the COOLEST EVER!
ahaha and uh...hm...they can kick yo butt cuz they took kickboxing today!
hahaha and they LOVEEE Oklahoma and Misssouri. =]]]]
yaaaay! haha btw this is alyssa typing aha and jordan is sitting by beck across the room writing stuff. yeah hm....so me and jordan are documenting our summer =]
yeaaaaaah! and uh WE LOVE CAROLINE! chee!
hmm welllll....i think im gonna go now.
Udown?!?!?!
"i cant wait till i graduateeeeee"
kshooots<3 =]]]]

this just in...beck sux at wii

ok i admit it...i suck at the wii-
especially wario ware-
there's just something so unnatural about putting a controller over your head and stabbing a piece of meat by forcibly jerking your head so that a horribly drawn cartoon carnivore (which kind of resembles cho cho lips) can get their Vitamin E for the day. (By the way congratulations Tyler you are the most ADD in the bunch, your skill at deftly placing teeth in grandma's mouth was legendary) However beyond any doubt the wii is pretty cool and should spark some really great creative ideas for the future of gaming. But what happened to the days of the Atari 2600 ahhhhhh...pixels. Times were much simpler back then...a couple games of pong and then some freeze tag outside was all we needed to keep ourselves busy. Nowadays it seems that everywhere you turn something new to take your time away from the important things in life. On Monday we're going to launch some new things in our ministry to draw us closer together with God- simply put we need to spend more time with Him. My prayer is that we can all help one another out as we get ready for the biggest move in all our lives and i'm not talking about going to the fitness center.
Unitl all the youth hear- beck.

farm fresh eggs (not bishop)

remember how we talked on friday night about living extraordinary lives--well i want to start. so this weekend (with your help) i'll be passing out flyers- (buisness cards) at the farm fair on sunday. The card will describe our new sermon series "Fearless" that i'm going to start this week saturday. I figured it'd be a great way to invite new high school youth to our services. I'll give you all more details this week saturday night.

oh yeah about the thorns...

as my wounds heal from Satan's Garden- i wanted to share with you all that we got some major praise (which we in turn give right back to God) for our work this past Saturday. Principal Nishikawa sent a letter to every staff person here at KMS giving our "crew" special thanks for all the work we did. And it gets better, although i didn't know it at that time---the work in Satan's Garden was supposed to be for the custodians to clean up. We SAVED them huge amounts of time and work, of course it wasn't without literally spilling our blood. What an awesome tetimony to the hard work our group does. Thanks guys and girls- even the ones who took a short nap in the youth van.

grump grumpy grumpy

i'm convinced that i need to take a day off after camp next year- getting not much sleep over two days and then dealing with 6th graders is not a good combination.

hopefully you'll all get a chance to read the blog this week- i see shevelle already has- way to go! i'm giving a prize to the next two people who comment on this blog next this coming saturday at service. i'm already giving shevelle one.

we're going to use this blog as a daily online bible study for those who are interested- i'll tell you all about it this week at service. sleep on!

camp2

hey everyone at hotwaterjuiceaction - if you're reading this...camp2 is over and i'm probably in trouble over what happened at camp- although as i write this camp2 hasn't even started yet- just call me prophetic i guess. I also have a sneaking suspicion that it had something to do with a cantalope.

I'm sitting here about 11:15 am waiting for camp2 to start in only 5 short hours. I have to say I don't know what to expect- we have everything ready- the food is bought- the tomatoes are peeled- the van is packed- it seems that everything is ready- but i'm not quite sure if i am.

A lot of times as a youth pastor we want to make your camp experience as memorable as ever-we desire to see Him invade you- and make you feel emotions you never thought you had.

For my minichurch I loved hearing your hearts on wednesday night
it blessed me so much to hear how much you hunger for God. I hope that as you read this you have taken your first step on the bridge between the World and God.

For everyone else- the new phase of our youth group has begun- what role will you play?
did you take the step or are you going to stay tied to the world.

Until all the youth hear, -beck
